Located at 3,500ft on Buffalo Mountain in Unicoi County, TN this 40ft tower offers beautiful views of Unicoi and Washington Counties. This tower is clearly visible from I26 near exit 32.
The tower can be accessed by a 5+ mile hiking path on the Unicoi County side or by road on the Washing County side. Road access to the tower is located on the opposite side of the mountain from I26 (Washington County, TN) via a Forest Service road which is accessed from Dry Creek Rd in Washington County. See directions at the bottom of the page.
The tower was remodeled and opened to hikers in Oct. 2011.

Directions:
Coming from Johnson City:
- From Cherokee Rd (Hwy 67) turn southeast onto Lone Oak Rd.
- Stay on Lone Oak Rd. which turns into Dry Creek Rd. (State Hwy 2587) for 5.4 miles.
- Turn left onto the gravel Forest Service Rd. (unmarked).
- Approx. 2.3 miles the Forest Service Rd. will fork. Stay to the left. (If you go right at the fork there is a gate.)
- Approx. 1.6 miles the Forest Service Rd. will turn to the right as it reaches the ridge of the mountain.
- Approx 1 mile the road will fork. Stay to the right and there will be a gate.
- Hike the rest of the trail (approx. .5 miles) to the tower.
